Since its work, Promobot V.4 served 44 888 visitors of the Perm Civil Service Office. A robot named Helper has been greeting people since February 2019; its primary functions include document processing, electronic queueing, and general help with the office’s services.
People receive most services with auto-fill and scanning functions. For example, they don’t have to type their credentials when preparing an ID document. The robot will detect and add the information automatically using a built-in text scanner. Afterward, people can consult with real employees on any specific procedures; if they interacted with the robot earlier, they receive a special Priority status to save time.
Sergei Kudimov, Civil Service Office representative, comments: «People use Helper for all kinds of tasks: getting their criminal record, replacing ID or completing resident registration. The robot also carries out most consulting duties at the location. It assumes the task of informing on the document requirements for each specific request. Overall, the robot saves up to 78 minutes of every staff member every day.»
The robot communicates and chats with people using neural networks. It implements multiple recognition features: the robot detects men, women, and children, recognizes any question, and automatically finds answers.
This isn’t the first time this particular office applied robotics in their work. In July 2020, a humanoid robot by Promobot model Robo-C began assisting people in processing their documents for various services. This is the first time a robot staff member would help people at a government facility. One full session takes on average 11 minutes 46 seconds; a human manager completes a session in 13 minutes 10 seconds. The robot has two shifts in a six-day workweek, does not go on vacations, or gets sick.
