The robot was created in Russia and speaks several languages.
The Maharishi Vidya Mandir Secondary School in Chennai, India, will start studying service robotics together with the Russian robot Promobot. The robot will teach children several disciplines simultaneously and act as a “live” laboratory stand as part of additional education lessons.
The Promobot V. 4 robot is a service robot for working in public places. The robot can work as a consultant, administrator, guide, or airport employee. Based on the promobot, students will study both programming, electronics, and mechatronics. The program includes 6 laboratory works.
«The peculiarity of studying robotics with a promobot is that it is an active robot working today in 42 countries of the world. Children will learn about the work of artificial intelligence using a living example, not virtual models. This is a unique opportunity: a Russian robot, which exact copies work all over the world — from the USA to Australia. Children will develop entire projects — and any successful solution can get from the school laboratory directly to our developers, and then appear on the robot, for example, in the National Bank of Oman, “says Oleg Kivokurtsev, the CBDO of Promobot.
Students will learn how to create and program robots to help people perform various tasks: from processing requests in banks to delivering goods. For that children will get acquainted with robot control, face recognition, scenarios of communication between people and robots, human-machine interaction on the example of the latest Promobot model.
For Promobot, this is the first experience of cooperation with educational institutions from India. The project started in 2020, but due to the pandemic, the introduction of the robot had to be postponed indefinitely. Due to the removal of restrictions in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, the school management decided to resume classes and connect a robot to them.
Maharishi Vidya Mandir is a group of private schools founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The Group operates schools in 118 cities with 1,000,000 students in total. There are specialized campuses for gifted children in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Hyderabad, and Chennai, where students study in-depth natural and exact disciplines.
Promobot was founded in 2015 in Perm. In the same year, the company became a resident of the IT cluster at Skolkovo Foundation. Today, Promobot is the largest manufacturer of autonomous service robots in Europe. Promobots work in 42 countries as administrative assistants, promoters, assessors, guides, and concierges, assisting and performing various workplace tasks. Promobot robots work in Sberbank, civil service offices in Perm, Dubai Mall, BWI Airport, and other locations worldwide. All the company’s products are designed and produced in Russia.
